Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a faith formation opportunity for youth in seventh grade and older in partnership with Calvin & Portersville Presbyterian Churches. It is a precious rite of passage offered to young people that desire to understand Christian faith and pledge it as their own. Students learn the basics of Reformed faith in classes, meet with a faith mentor, attend a retreat, and write a statement of faith. Through these opportunities youth can come to a clear profession of faith and membership in Christ's Church!
For 2023, Mountville Presbyterian Church has partnered again with Portersville Presbyterian for a joint Confirmation Class. (Calvin Presbyterian did not have any participants this year.) The kids are meeting together at one of the participating churches or family homes each week for a meal and some fellowship before the class begins. Pastor Patrick Keeley and Pastor Dana Opp are leading the kids to discover the answers to such questions as - What does God say about Himself, about us? and about His relationship with us? They will also explore the Gospel, the Sacraments, and our mission in Christ among other topics.
Each confirmand will partner with an adult mentor and will also prepare a statement of faith to be presented at the conclusion of the class during a meeting with the session members of the participating churches. We look forward to hearing what these young women and men have to say about their faith in their own words.
After an orientation meeting Sunday, February 5, the class is scheduled to meet the following Saturdays at 8:30am: February 11, & 25, March 4, 11, 18, & 25, and April 15, & 22. There will also be an overnight retreat scheduled.

(Mountaineers is not meeting at this time.)
Kindergarten – 6th Grade
What are you doing Friday nights? We've got something great for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. The Mountaineers Kids Group is all about fun, friends, and learning the basics of faith.
It is not uncommon to hear the sound of laughter and chatter on the front lawn or in the fellowship hall on Friday nights. You might see kids balancing a random object on a spoon, lifting a giant parachute into the air, or journeying around the building on a scavenger hunt. Each night a Bible story is told and how it connects to the big story of the entire Bible. And of course, there is a snack each evening.
Our goal is to connect with the children in our church and community so that they might experience the truth and love of Jesus Christ through the basic teachings of Scripture and the building of relationships in His Church.

We usually meet the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Mountaineers is also a great parent opportunity! At the end of a long week, adults can drop their kids off while they run an errand, or better yet, go out to dinner with their spouse. Mountaineers is a great night for the entire family.
